My Values
Confidentiality: Trust is the basis of effective therapy and counselling. You need to feel comfortable talking about personal issues. We will discuss the limits of confidentiality in our first session, so you can make an informed choice about therapy and choosing me as your therapist.
Focused Treatment: I am experienced in several different therapeutic models, but generally work from the view that many issues show up in how we relate to others. I will tailor my approach to one that best fits your personality and goals.
Short term: I generally prefer short-term therapy so you can get back to your normal day-to-day life. I will work with you on a longer term basis as long as we both feel that we are making progress.
Ethics and Professionalism: Ethical conduct and professionalism are the foundation of my practice. I am governed by the College of Psychologist of British Columbia, the Health Professions Act, the BC Psychologist’s Code of Conduct, and the Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists.
If you have any concerns about me as a professional, we can normally address them in our work together. If we cannot, you can contact the College with your complaint. Their phone number is 1-800-665-0979 and their brochure Your Psychologist and You: What to do if you have a complaint explains the complaint process.
